Gerald (Gerry) Prothro

Gerry Prothro is Managing Director and owner of IKT Investments Ltd., a technology consulting and investment services firm. Previously, Mr. Prothro was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at BroadStream Communication Corporation, where he was responsible for the architecture, design and development of the company’s wireless Next Generation Network.

Mr. Prothro served at IBM for many years where he held numerous executive and senior management positions, most recently Vice President of Strategy and IBM Chief Information Officer; he was the architect of IBM’s Worldwide Internet Protocol Network, and also was elected an IBM Corporate Officer in 1994. Previously, he was a consultant to the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Mr. Prothro has received numerous honors including Howard University’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement in the field of Business and Corporate Affairs, the IBM U.S. Education Excellence Award, Black Engineer of the Year Award for Professional Achievement in Private Industry, Excellence in Information Technology Award from Information Week 500 editors, and the 10th Annual CIO – 100 Top Information Technology Honoree.

Mr. Prothro is on the Board of Nationwide Financial Services Inc., a Nationwide Life Insurance Company, is a trustee of Howard University and an advisor to FECI Incorporated, and was a member of the Advisory Board for Saturn Venture Partners LLC. He is a member of the Corporate Advisory Council to the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and the Brooklyn Guardsmen and Alpha Sigma Boule. Mr. Prothro earned a BS in mathematics and physics and MS in physics from Howard University, and an executive MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He joined the Fedcap Board in 2004.
