Michael Rendel

Michael Rendel is the Medical Director, Global Head of Wellness and Head of Americas Benefits at Goldman Sachs. He is responsible for US health care strategy, global wellness programs, and all medical services at the firm. He has had wide experience in pandemic planning and occupational health across global organizations. Dr. Rendel has 20 years’ experience as a physician in private practice, with expertise on the effect of medical issues in the corporate environment. He has overseen operation of on-site medical facilities, wellness outreach programs, disability management and public health issues. Previously, he was Medical Director at Merrill Lynch, leading all aspects of employee medical and wellness care. As a private physician, Dr. Rendel specialized in primary care, HIV/AIDS, men’s health, travel medicine, and infectious diseases. He has been published extensively in academic journals.

Dr. Rendel is a member of the National Corporate Medical Directors Association, the Multinational Cooperative Group on International Medicine, and a fellow of the American College of Physicians, among many other professional groups.

He received his BA from Brown University and his MD from the University of Maryland. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at New York University. He joined the Fedcap Board in 2011.
