Board of Directors

Richard Fursland, OBE

Richard Fursland had three careers, in diplomacy, marketing and non-profit leadership. He now serves on the Boards of BritishAmerican Business and The Fedcap Group, chairs the Business Advisory Council of the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, and is a docent at the Bronx Zoo.

After graduation from Cambridge and a Fellowship at Harvard, Richard joined the British Diplomatic Service, and had postings to Hong Kong, Beijing, London and United Nations/New York. He then served successively as EVP/International at Grey Advertising/GCI Group and COO of the International Peace Academy.

In 2000, he co-founded BritishAmerican Business, and led the organization until he stepped down in 2015: in 2012, he was presented by HM Queen Elizabeth II with the CBE for his services to UK-US business.

Richard has lived in New York since 1981, but remains an avid fan of West Ham, Private Eye, Old Peculier and Marmite. He is married to, and has one daughter with, MJ Territo, a jazz vocalist/lyricist and music educator.
