Easterseals New York Walk With Me Event Draws Nearly 1000 Supporters
On Saturday July 30th almost 1000 people gathered in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, New York for Easterseals New York’s annual Walk With Me event. These national fundraising events are held in multiple cities by Easterseals affiliates to raise awareness and support for families living with disabilities.
In Flushing Meadows Park, individual walkers and teams were joined by hundreds of other supporters for a day of entertainment, fun and the signature walk! The event supports Easterseals New York programs for children with disabilities, including our Child Development Centers, as well as Veteran reintegration and Vets2Jobs programs, vocational programs for seniors and our Quadriplegic Rugby Team.
The day was a great success. In addition to raising funds for these impactful Easterseals New York programs, attendees had a great time enjoying the warm summer weather. Alongside the Unisphere, the iconic global structure that was commissioned for the 1964 World’s Fair, they participated in a conga line, dancing, and a hula hoop contest. High Voltage Productions provided DJ services throughout the day, Starbuck’s donated coffee, and CBS Radio provided a prize wheel.
Easterseals board members Anthony Citrolo, Kankan Bhattacharya and Brendan Leavy also took part in the event, which culminated in a spirited walk - with a conga line- around Flushing Meadow Park.
Craig Stenning, Executive Director of Easterseals New York, recognized the event’s main sponsors, Amway and Britt Worldwide Charities. National Easterseals sponsors Century 21, Mass Mutual and CVS Health were also recognized for their continued support.
“We want to thank everyone who participated, generously investing their time to improve the lives of the children and adults with disabilities who we are so grateful to serve,” said Christine McMahon, Fedcap President and CEO.
