1st Annual Fedcap Golf Tournament
On August 11th Fedcap held is first annual Golf Tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor. Through the gifts, sponsorships and silent auction purchases of our friends and sponsors, the sold-out Fedcap Golf Tournament raised $71,000!
“This event will make a significant difference in the lives of these young people and we thank you and the amazing folks at Trump National for your generosity," said Joseph Giannetto, Fedcap Chief Operating Officer.
Twenty-eight golf foursomes including Fedcap Board members and representatives from an array of businesses played the world renowned course. Starting with a brunch and ending with cocktails, dinner and the silent auction, the day was a memorable experience for all involved.
Some of the businesses that participated are new to the Fedcap family, including ConAgra Foods, Goya, IDB Bank, SimplexGrinnell, Siemens Industry, Aon Risk Solutions and Mass Mutual. Also participating were many of our long-time supporters and business partners; Mutual of America, Ocean Janitorial, Cleaning Systems, JPMorgan Chase, Grant Thornton, Sterling Supply, BWD Group LLC, USI, White Rose, VVA LLC, ISS, AmSan, Crystal and Co., ADF Contract Furniture, Gary’s Landscaping and TemPositions.
Because of the participation of new and existing supporters, twenty-four youth who live in foster care or who come from disadvantaged families and communities now have the opportunity to participate in a High Impact Internship. These internships are critical in helping level the playing field for these young people, allowing them to build their resumes, and develop the skills and professional contacts they need to find employment in their chosen careers.
“We are thrilled that we have made so many new “friends of Fedcap” and are very grateful to those who continue, year after year to support our important work. Events like today go a long way to changing the story for these young people, and creating lifetime economic well-being,” said Fedcap President and CEO Christine McMahon.
Here is what young people have said about the High Impact Internships that Fedcap has funded in the past two years at prestigious locations including Columbia University, JP Morgan Chase, Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the law firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, Office of the Medical Examiner, and many others.
“I learned to be confident and to believe in myself…I found my voice through this internship.”
“I was surprised by how much they trusted me and gave me significant responsibilities …I worked hard because I did not want to disappoint them!”
“I thought I knew what I wanted to do in life, but this internship completely changed my direction…”
“I cannot thank my supervisor enough for providing me with such a fulfilling experience, and for taking such interest in me and my life…”
We are grateful to Burke Supply for their Silver Sponsorship, to The College of Westchester for their sponsorship, and to Trump National Golf Club for their magnificent facilities, expert staff and delicious food.
