2013 Celebration of Work
December2, 2013 | Gotham Hall
Over 500 people turned out for Fedcap’s 2013 Celebration of Work Gala, making it the most successful to date.
The annual fundraising dinner, now in its fifth year, honored those who support Fedcap’s work in building pathways to economic independence for people with barriers. Among the attendees at Manhattan’s elegant Gotham Hall were leaders from the business community, the nonprofit world and a host of City, State and Federal Government agencies.
A very special guest was United States Senator Charles E. Schumer. Eloquent as always, Senator Schumer honored the work of Fedcap with his kind remarks and also introduced Work Star – a designation for employers who are committed to hiring people with barriers and practicing socially responsible outsourcing.
Every year Fedcap honors individuals who demonstrate exemplary passion and commitment in helping to realize the aspirations of people in need. This year’s honorees included Jeffrey R. Gural, Chairman, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Outstanding Corporate Citizen Award; Janice Huff, Meteorologist NBC4 New York and host of Wednesday’s Child, Excellence in Media Award; and Barry Bloomgarden, BWD Group LLC, The Leo Mayer Award for Distinguished Service.
Fedcap community members, showing their own generosity and dedication, rose to the occasion. Collectively, they pledged funds to provide 20 new High-Impact Internship opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
