Fedcap Opens New Clinic in the Bronx

Fedcap proudly cut the ribbon at its new mental-health community clinic in the Bronx on Wednesday, January 30.

Fedcap Behavioral Health Services provides psychotherapy, counseling, medication management and other services to adults, including veterans and their families, on an outpatient basis.

Christine McMahon and Janyce Jones“This clinic is the latest manifestation of Fedcap’s deep commitment to the Bronx, and the direct result of two years of listening to residents, employers, community organizations and elected officials,” said Christine McMahon, Fedcap President and CEO. “The Bronx has some of the country’s highest rates of poverty and unemployment. Fedcap is committed to providing education, workforce development and jobs – and to leading integrated solutions – that will turn those rates around.”

Many City and State agencies, fellow providers and other community partners joined Fedcap for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including representatives from the NYS Office of Mental Health, NYS Assembly, NYC Department of Probation and Administration for Children Services, NYPD’s 42nd Precinct and ACCES-VR.

“We welcome Fedcap to our community of providers,” said Janyce Jones, OMH Bronx & Manhattan Borough Coordinator, as she cut the ceremonial ribbon. “We welcome new energy and vitality and ideas and creativity, and I’m sure that [Fedcap] will be a wonderful partner.”

“Mental illness is directly correlated with the stresses brought by poverty, high crime rates and unemployment,” said Joanna Fahey, the clinic’s Director of Outpatient Services. “We are seeing clients who have no sense of home or of how to make a living. Many have children who have been removed to foster care; many grew up in foster care themselves. We are committed to providing mental health services that improve outcomes for our clients who face these daunting challenges.”
